Refreshing Candor
by digby
One thing I like about the right these days is that they're so insular that they often spill the beans without realizing it. Here's the perfect example from the incoming Chairman of the House Banking Committee Spencer Bachus from Alabama:
“In Washington, the view is that the banks are to be regulated, and my view is that Washington and the regulators are there to serve the banks,” he said.
It's refreshing to hear a politician come right out and admit it, don't you think?
Unfortunately, he also says that he's going to try to repeal much of the financial reform bill, and I nwouldn't be surprised if he gets it done. And if they can come up with some bogus reason that the Democrats can sign on to, they'll probably vote for it too. After all, the economic recovery depends upon giving the wealthy whatever they want.
