Could John McCain Actually Achieve The Impossible?
Could John McCain - and his advisers - actually be dumber than George W. Bush? Now, before you scoff...
Others have noted that McCain's economic speech left a lot to be desired in terms of an intelligent plan; for example, "temporarily" suspending the gas tax this summer will likely raise consumption and ultimately lead to higher gas prices.
But I noticed this remarkable gaffe, in the printed text of his speech:
...when we added the prescription drug benefit to Medicare, a new and costly entitlement, we included many people who are more than capable of purchasing their own medicine without assistance from taxpayers who struggle to purchase their own. People like Bill Gates and Warren Buffet don't need their prescriptions underwritten by taxpayers. Those who can afford to buy their own prescription drugs should be expected to do so.The last I checked, Medicare was for folks 65 and older and Bill Gates is 52.
In other words, Bill Gates is not collecting Medicare and wont be for 13 long years.
Once again, this mistake was in McCain's written remarks.
