Trump the Messiah is being impeached for our sins

If you thought Trump's whining about how the Salem Witch Trials were more fair than the impeachment hearings was bad, get a load of this one:
“When Jesus was falsely accused of treason, Pontius Pilate gave Jesus the opportunity to face his accusers. During that sham trial, Pontius Pilate afforded more rights to Jesus than the Democrats have afforded this President in this process.”  --- GOP Rep. Barry Loudermilk
This is the essence of the Trump defender's message all day long. Their Dear Leader is being crucified in a process more unfair than that which was inflicted on Jesus Christ.

And they are all persecuted Trumpists.

Meanwhile, the real world:

Rep. Steny Hoyer: "Never in all my years of serving in this great institution...did I ever expect to encounter such an obvious wrongdoing by a president.."

Dem. Rep. Steny Hoyer, to some applause on the House floor: "There's been a lot of talk about the 63 million people who voted for Mr. Trump. Little talk about the 65 million people who voted for Hillary Clinton." https://t.co/hGjla0XsST pic.twitter.com/rMl2xY6UcS

"Democrats did not choose this impeachment... we did not want this," says Rep. Steny Hoyer.

"We voted against it once. We voted against it twice, we voted against it three times as recently as July... Trump's misconduct has forced our constitutional republic to protect itself." pic.twitter.com/nmlr1bZPF9

Rep. Steny Hoyer (D-MD) cites former Rep. Larry Hogan (R-MD) as the first Republican on the Judiciary Committee to support the impeachment of Richard Nixon; Hogan said, "I cannot in good conscience turn away from the evidence of evil that is, to me, so clear and compelling." pic.twitter.com/wCiiWd3ZjX

House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer invokes Rep. Justin Amash, who left the GOP after declaring his support for impeachment.

The whole speech was very well done.

If you want to hear the meat of the case against Trump in a serious way, here's Schiff:

After hours of debate, one thing is clear:

My Republican colleagues don't want to defend the President's conduct. They haven't argued that he did, in fact, uphold his oath of office.

Because President Donald J. Trump's abuse of power and obstruction of Congress is indefensible. pic.twitter.com/IBZED8E3Is

Donald J. Trump swore an oath to faithfully execute his office and protect and defend the Constitution.

Has he honored this sacred obligation? The evidence is uncontested:

Trump sacrificed our national security to cheat in the next election.

And for that, he must be impeached. pic.twitter.com/IJ8J5o1APH

It's done. Everyone says that it will be the first line in Trump's obituary. Not true. It will be up top, for sure. But the first line will be that he was the most unfit, corrupt, traitorous president in history.

Just saying.
